Outside of scriptures, this is the book I recommend the well-nigh for others to read. It is an crawly book! 1 of the few books that has really made me cry and continues to do and then every time I read it. I've read other Og Mandino books, simply none bear upon me well-nigh as much as this ane. My favorite quote from the book is:

I'm rating this zero stars. If this isn't the worst book I've always read, it ranks very close to information technology, and it'due south an incredibly dangerous read to boot. Mandino says he has something "direct from God" for readers, simply it's only a mish-mash of pop psychology (circa 1970s) dressed in "God-language" with a few Bible verses (in flowery KJV) to add to the effect. The message, which has been delivered over the years in various forms of wearing apparel-upward, is the very familiar song and dance related to the power of I'thou rating this zero stars. If this isn't the worst book I've e'er read, it ranks very close to it, and it's an incredibly unsafe read to boot. I imagine that Og was rolling in the dough after he wrote this volume in the 1970's. As a salesman and article writer, he must have known how to have people buy into what he said without secularizing behavior. Thus, readers are non proselytized (as in about Christian memoirs).

I'g not ashamed to acknowledge that I used to purchase into this kind of drivel when I was younger. However, there are two assertions made here that are actually true. I actually enjoyed reading this book for several reasons. Throughout the volume my stance of the main character, Simon, inverse. I liked that it kept me reading to find out if Simon was being veracious or not. The author did a smashing job of personalizing the story, likewise equally giving it a mysterious feel. This volume is swell for anyone in demand of a good selection me upwardly and some motivation. By the end of the book I felt inspired to employ my "powers of pick." This was my start and most probably my last Og Mandino book. It was sugariness, preachy, and a little dated. I think the sentiment was good and did enjoy Chapter 9, The God Memorandum. The problem was the 8 chapters leading upwards to information technology were not my loving cup of tea. The story was that Og met God in the flesh and God gave him a memo to print for the world.

It gave me the power to notice my G-D and to bring Him back into my life and to stay clean and sober...I am writing this on my 19th year of Sobriety and if it were not for this book and my sponsor...I would not be here today! I remember liking this volume the first fourth dimension I read it. I changed my mind after I re-read it in 2005. I mean, the book is full of inspiring messages but the mode Simon kept praising Og Mandino over and over was very annoying.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but if you are looking for inspiration this book delivers. I love this book. Information technology is my 2nd time reading it. I read information technology the first time as a immature adult about 27 years ago. I realize now that much of "The Memo" has stuck, and the refresher i received while reading was very needed and timely. I am at present passing these books on to my children. Non everyone'southward loving cup of tea, merely if you are looking for inspiration this book delivers. I love this book. Information technology is my second time reading information technology. I read it the starting time fourth dimension equally a young adult about 27 years agone. I have fiddling patience for very fluffy, experience-expert kind of stories and fifty-fifty less so when they are so self-promotional. I've previously read Mandino'southward work and, while I can understand why some people would exist very inspired and uplifted by them, it really isn't for me. He was the president of Success Unlimited mag until 1976 and is an inductee of the National Speakers Association'south Hall Of Fame. Augustine "Og" Mandino II (Dec 12, 1923 – September 3, 1996) was an American writer. He wrote the bestselling book The Greatest Salesman in the World. His books have sold over fifty million copies and accept been translated into over xx-five different languages. He was the president of Success Unlimited magazine until 1976 and is an inductee of the National Speakers Association's Hall Of Fame.

Mandino was born Dec 12, 1923. According to the 1930 U.S. Census, he was named afterward his paternal grandfather.

Mandino was one time the editor of a high school paper and planned to nourish the University of Missouri's journalism schoolhouse. Merely in the summer of 1940, before Mandino was able to enter higher, his mother died suddenly from a massive heart attack. This happened while Mandino's mother was in the kitchen preparing his lunch. After the incident, Mandino decided to piece of work in a paper factory until 1942.
